Toronto International Film Festival 2011

Roll out the red carpet and start buttering the popcorn because its that exciting time of year again when Hollywood and international stars invade Toronto to promote and celebrate the next big in cinema. The paparazzi, along with thousands of cinema enthusiasts, will be hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite celebs. The Toronto international film fistival, also known as TIFF runs september 8th through to september 18th 2011. Toronto enthusiastically welcomes the world into our cinemas.
TIFF began in 1976 as the `Festival of festivals` collecting the best films from other film festivals around the world. That first year127 films were shown front 30 countries; by 2011 the numbers have grown to 336 films from 65 countries. Renamed the TIFF in 1995 the fest has introduced may of the world`s greatest films and their respective stars to Toronto audiences. TIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Canadian movies to film lovers and has become a launching pad for some of the best of the best in film from all over the world. This year, for the first time ever TIFF will be bigger than the Cannes film festival , making it the largest in the world. One of the reasons why this Festival is so successful is because it caters to the large audience who are passionate about film, as well as the world`s press and film industry.
